@kcomer Welcome to the Rockstor communit. Thank for reporting this and as it goes I am due to look at the smart subsystem pretty soon (hopefully) as we have a number of other reports of smart info not showing up on some other LSI cards. Note quite sure if it’s the same as what you are seeing but I can have a look while I’m there hopefully.
I take it you get the mentioned “not available” report when you click on the drive name? And I take it you have tried the switch at the end of each device in the Disks page.
The issue I hope to get to soon is entitled no SMART info on MSA70 but it has also been linked to another controller, the lsi9207-8i. Not convinced your problem is the same but I can keep it in mind when I have a look. I’ve linked this forum thread from that issue so that it might be taken into account.
There is just a little more info that may well help with working out what’s wrong here.
Could you examine via tail or less the /opt/rockstor/var/log/rockstor.log file just after receiving this GUI message as I’m hoping it will shed more light on what’s going on. If you could paste what looks like it might be relevant here that would be great. I’m afraid I haven’t come across this one before so hopefully will have more to offer suggestions wise later. I take it you have looked into enabling via cli using either smartclt or hdparm as well.
Thanks and nice reporting.
Oh and I believe we have at least one hdd temp on dashboard issue open also. I’ve made a note to update this thread with development on that issue also.
