Is all the manual configuration noted here really necessary, or this just a short-term limitation? Seems to me it ought to be feasible, and convenient, to set this up automatically?
We definitely plan to improve by prompting for input and creating necessary resources on the fly as part of the install wizard. eg: creating Shares.
Did you have any other suggestions? Please feel free to share.
This is just a quick thought, so I may be missing something, but …
When installing Rockstor, you should have a predefined rock-on setup (share, etc.), that users can either reject, or modify.
Thanks @bdarcus this is an interesting idea. Once the core stuff is stable, we can look into more canned features like these. Depending on number HDDs, the setup wizard can propose a pool configuration followed by share configuration for things like Rock-on setup.
