Well, I am a retired design engineer with 95% background in machine control. I love to see mechanics move as in robotics and handling systems. I really got burned out though, took a couple years off to help care for my sick wife around 2002… and that is another long sad story. I’m sure I have millions of line of machine code for DSPs and MCUs under my belt for everything from 2 to 10 output coordinated motor drives to heater controls to to high intensity light controls… all at the machine level. Never did like data processing at all either.
So here I am trying to get my Backup/NAS setup going and running into so many basic problems it isn’t funny. …
Currently I am at home trying to beat some “illnesses” I have and remodeling my home (slowly) as money permits.
I tried FreeNAS and Rockstor years ago ( when I got a copy on Flash Drive) and didn’t think either were mature enough to do me any good…
Likewise, I did a LOT of testing with ZFS and such proving to myself it was junky as implemented.
