Flash Drive vs Solid State for BOOT?

Have any recommendations on using a flash drive vs a solid state for a boot drive? I imagine the SSD will have more read/write times than a flash drive, but then again maybe there has been testing done out there that shows otherwise? Have you done any testing yourself in a non-critical environment?

Hi @G.gavin99,

I was using a 128GB Patriot Supersonic Rage 2 USB 3.1 flash drive for a while, but found there were times when I would get IO bound. Back in the summer of last year I swapped out to a Kingston 120GB UV400 SSD and have yet to get IO bound. Mind you, my rockons are all on that drive as well.

Really, it’s going to depend what your system drive is going to be doing.
