Hi again, @orangejulio ,
First of all: thanks a lot for all your experimentation and your very constructive and helpful feedback. That’s excellent to see and very valuable to the community.
I’m not sure about others but I personally don’t see that as that unorthodox. I personally would love to have Rockstor better support such “custom”/third party backups options in the future and have always been curious about them.
Btrfs-related operations are @phillxnet’s expertise but I know they’re currently very busy with our next RPM release (Release 4.6.1-0 · rockstor/rockstor-core · GitHub) so, in the meantime, I would like to point you towards the following thread that seems similar to me (pardon my misunderstanding otherwise):
Bees .beeshome subvolume getting remounted by Rockstor
As you can see, this led to the implementation of a system-wide “ignore” list for subvolumes and it seems this could fix your use case as well: Add system-wide subvol exclusion mechanism (#2223) by phillxnet · Pull Request #2270 · rockstor/rockstor-core · GitHub. It may very well depend on the path of your subvolume(s) to be ignored, but it seems to be promising at the very least.
