my question is if i change out my mother Board will i have to set everything back up again.thanks
most likely not.
If the kernel is supporting the new motherboard (it should if you are not going for some bleeding edge AMD Zen stuff) then it should boot up and all should be working as before, but perhaps faster if it’s an upgrade
thanks that sounds great. big smile:grin:
As this thread is a few years old and the system has possibly undergone many iterations, my question is:
Can the MB still be changed without a fresh OS install?
Or
Is there a preferred sequence to undertake to achieve a successful change?
Thanks for such a fab piece of kit, even if i haven’t a clue as to what is happening under the bonnet.
@Mike-B Hello again.
Re:
Yes, everything should just auto-adjust, assuming the new motherboard is supported OK by the kernel.
The Appliance ID will also remain unchanged, but may change if a re-install was carried out.
Main thing to note is that if the Web-UI gets confused, ask here on the forum before attempting any re-arrangements. As the underlying filesystem etc is all unchanged so confusion would likely only be within the interface and so would be good to catch by way of bug fix. And making any changes when the Web-UI is out-of-touch would have unknown consequences.
But again, it should and usually is just find with such a change.
Hope that helps and let us know who it goes.
