I’m seing a small problem on my NAS.
Sometimes (two times in the last month), I have had NFS stop sharing files.
Only clue I have seen is in dmesg
[2250647.523423] nfsd: last server has exited, flushing export cache
[2250673.958579] NFSD: starting 90-second grace period (net ffffffff81b151c0)
Stopping and restarting the NFS service fixes the problem.
But what could be the cause?

Hey @KarstenV ! Is this happening only after 3.8-10 or did it happen before also? Are you on testing or stable updates?

I’m not completely sure, but i think its only happening after 3.8-10, the three instances are within the last 5½ days or so.
In DMESG I see something regarding a new NFS install during boot:
[ 186.364798] Installing knfsd (copyright © 1996 okir@monad.swb.de ).
Maybe this has something to do with my problems?
I’m on the testing updates. Updated to the latest release (.03).

Could you boot into 4.2.2 kernel and see if the problem exists on it? I am running nfs here and don’t see this problem.

I will try it if the problem persists.
I have an idea that the problem may have something to do with my media player, not being online (due to the PSU dying) for the last many days, and there not being any NFS traffic/requests, as my media player is the only thing in my network accessing the NAS via NFS. I have the media player fixed now so its online and I’m actively using NFS.
If NFS goes offline again, i will try the older kernel.
