Optimizing SMB share performance OSX client

Hi;

More testing …

I’ve noticed the SMB shares are a little slower to list directories on the client vs another solution; this is with connected OSX clients on SMB. Server is running LUKS encrypted shares configured in a two drive RAID1 pool.

The machine is running 16GB ram on a A4-4000 cpu; network is GigE. Nothing appears to be loaded, and only one client active currently. RW performance is very good, aside from directory listings.

Any ideas or tricks? Is the hardware sufficient for 3-4 clients? The volume of data is not high, but the number of individual files is large.

Thanks!
Steve
