Samba configuration reload causes very short hiccup in clients

Hello Rockstor community!

Whenever I add/remove a Samba export, networked processes get interrupted (Windows file transfers fail on the current file, srcds servers crash, etc). Is there anyway that Samba’s config can be reloaded without causing all clients to disconnect temporarily? (Some Google searches revealed things like “systemctl reload smb” and “killall -HUP smbd”)

If this is not possible, could a friendly warning be added to the Samba add/edit/remove exports views/dialogs? It’s really unexpected when adding an admin user to an export suddenly crashes a few gameservers… :frowning:

Hi @tehzevo and welcome to Rockstor!

You’re right about samba start/stop/start kicking every win user, will check it asap
