theres no syslog in /var/log/ nor messages.
saw in the consol before rebooting there was an OOM that killed smb. I cant find a log file anywhere that shows that, its not in dmesg, that only has logs since the last reboot.

Our underlying OS, the “Built on …” bit is openSUSE these day. This uses systemd based logging. So look to/up related tools/files for system logging. I.e.:
journalctl
is a good start.

here is a block of logs surrounding the smb kill. this is a new vm I made last night because my previous vm took a shit, all I have done is add my users, imported 2 pools, configured my shares and file permissions and installed jellyfin, no hw accel. I think the previous 2 vms shit the bed after I did the testing update. I thought I had a backup but alas, I did not. lol
