Is there anyone who can tell me how to get my OpenVPN connection to connect at startup. I have NordVPN and I am able to connect to the servers using OpenVPN via SSH. This all works fine but when the server restarts, it disconnects, as you would expect it to. However, I do not know, or can find out how to get this to login and connect at start up. I have a login so I guess I would have to store that somewhere for it to use. Could someone please give me pointers.
Thanks in advance!
Hey max,
I was looking for the same stuff a while ago so i can use Ivacy vpn on startup. Turns out, you’ll have to create a manual connection via the dialer. I’m assuming you know how to do it. you’l need your credentials and your provider’s, in this case, nord’s provided credentials and their server list. with that, you’ll be able to create a dialer with which you can connect to the vpn without the app (you’d still be using your provider’s servers an credentials)
Now, all that remains is to ensure it fires at the startup.
for that, you’ll have to ensure the following (i borrowed this part from MS answers.)
"If you need to connect to a Virtual Private Network at windows startup, and you don’t want to have the user push connect or enter the password do the following:
- On the VPN Connect screen, check “Save this user name and password for the following users”
- Select the “Anyone who uses this computer” radio button
- Click “Properties” on the VPN Connect screen
- On the “Options” tab, uncheck:
-“Display progress while connecting”
-“Prompt for name and password, certificate, etc.” - In Windows Explorer, browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
- Open a new Windows Explorer and browse to Control Panel\Network Connections
- Drag the icon of your VPN connection to the Startup folder. This will create a shortcut
Now at Windows startup, the will launch and connect silently."
Hope I helped bro
Just making sure, you do know this is a Rockstor Forum, linux. Not windows?
Actually I have been using bvpn for a long time https://www.iwasel.org/en/trysmoketunnelfree/ with highly encrypted connection; you can check it yourself using free trial. It is cheap, secure and easy to use as I managed to bypass internet filtering easily and anonymously.
Check here how to setup vpn client: http://www.pcworld.com/article/210562/how_set_up_vpn_in_windows_7.html & download psiphon for window also: http://apkadvisor.com/psiphon-apk/
I suggest closing this topic, it’s clearly being used for bot spam about VPN services.
