Hello everyone, I use rockstor 5.0.10-0.
I am not an expert, I have my rockstor system that I use as a NAS and to run some rockstor (torrent, jellyfin).
I installed watchtower, but I inserted the label incorrectly, now the rock-on is in a perpetual starting state, the procedure read in the forum and in the documentation to force the removal, seems to have worked, but the state always remains in starting.
The rest of the system appears to work perfectly both the shares and the other rock-on.
A strange thing is that at the top left the buttons to activate the rocks-on service have become 4 and increase by one, every time I open the rock-on page
The reboot does not lead to anything I always return to the same situation.
To be helpful and to compensate for my poor English I add some images.
First, try to turn the Rockon service off (either on the Rockon page, or maybe in the Services page) and then turn it on again. This might clear the phantom status of Starting.
This is indeed curious why the Rockon service status keeps multiplying. I have not observed that in the past. Do you think it would be possible for you to upgrade to 5.0.15-0 as between your version and the latest release candidate quite a few changes have occurred?
Also, after the next restart I would also clean out your browser cache just to ensure that no artefacts remain that might impact the browser display (as you are seeing it right now).
I assume with the forced removal you are referring to the use of the command line and delete-rockon procedure, correct?
" First, try to turn the Rockon service off (either on the Rockon page, or maybe in the Services page) and then turn it on again. This might clear the phantom status of Starting ." I tried disabling the service and re-enabling it and also disabling, restarting rockstore and then re-
enabling it but the result is the same.
“This is indeed curious why the Rockon service status keeps multiplying. I have not observed that in the past. Do you think it would be possible for you to upgrade to 5.0.15-0 as between your version and the latest release candidate quite a few changes have occurred?” I’m using the stable update and it’s stuck on my version, do I have to switch to the testing update to
update to the version you suggest?
“Also, after the next restart I would also clean out your browser cache just to ensure that no artefacts remain that might impact the browser display (as you are seeing it right now).” yes, several times and I also changed browsers
I assume with the forced removal you are referring to the use of the command line and delete-rockon procedure, correct? exactly, as reported in the documentation At the point Force uninstall of a Rock-on
Happy new year to all.
Another information, switching to 5.0.15-0 did not solve anything, and I realized that I can not install new rock-on and not even uninstall, the system reminds me that there is a rock-on starting and to wait.
With the Docker commands I cleaned and for him there are only 4 docker/rock-on running, he does not see the one starting.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Dado
Happy new Year. Sorry for the delay in responding.
yes, while it’s close for the next stable release, in the meantime you can switch to the testing channel, update/reboot and then switch back to the stable channel right away or once the new official stable version comes out.
It’s strange that it continues to be in starting mode after you’ve force uninstalled the Watchtower Rockon. Just to be clear, you did this?
cd /opt/rockstor
poetry run delete-rockon "Watchtower Official"
and it then gave the message that the Rockon was successfully deleted?
Yes I did it like this, I updated to the latest version by switching to the test channel, rebooted and then returned to the stable version.
If I run the command for manual uninstallation:
cd /opt/rockstor poetry run delete-rockon “Watchtower Official”
The answer is always this:
The metadata for the Rock-On named Watchtower Official (id: 150) has been deleted from the database
But the problem doesn’t change.
It almost seems like the problem is more “graphic” than real, but despite everything it doesn’t let me do anything on the Rockons, which at least work ;-), in fact in addition to cleaning the cache, I tried to change browser and out of curiosity also the operating system
If instead I use the Docker command, Watchtower appears, not installed, non-existent.
News!!
problem solved, not by my ability, obviously.
I had run the command “poetry etc…etc…” several times, updated, but always restarting my rockstor server.
This morning, I physically turned off the machine to insert a plug to read the server’s consumption.
When I turned it on, I connected to verify that everything was working and the problem was gone, I don’t know if this can be a clue, I don’t have the skills to understand it but it’s the only different thing I did compared to previous attempts.
I hope it helps others or developers.
