shouldnt this have the storage space of 1 drive with 3 redundant copies?
The default for RAID1 would be 2 copies. Unless you select the c3 flavor of RAID1 I think this view is correct.
Btrfs’s raid1 differs from raid1 (where all drives are mirrored). Raid1 means data is written in two redundant places, raid1c3 means three and raid1c4.
So it’s good feature but named after non-related system
Please excuse a 70yo man, but i have to say HAHAHAHAHA LOL! BTRFS Raid anything is nothing like what us old timers are familiar with!
Microsoft/Hardware Raid controller or Raid anything isn’t what BTRFS does… but it sure works well and pretty much as good and as fast as the old stuff.
Just tickled my funny bone seeing “raid1 differs from raid1”… it is so true and so hard for a old man to get a grip on, but I got it now… 1 GB chunks at a time!
