Brief description of the problem

I have purchased the stable subscription a while ago and am now about to change the hardware.

Rockstor is already reinstalled on a different motherboard and I would like to transfer my subscription to this new appliance. When logging in to the Appliance ID Manager, I can change the Appliance ID, but I don’t get an E-Mail with the new subscription key. The Current Appliance ID on Appman shows my new appliance id, but I can’t find an activation code there.

One “strange” thing I noticed, that although the old Appliance ID has a bunch of random numbers, the new appliance ID has suspiciously many zeros in it in the form of:
XXXXXXXX-XXXX-0000-0000-000000000000

Detailed step by step instructions to reproduce the problem

Some Details without revealing my Appliance ID:
Order ID: vrgbk357-l4x96e7a-5yapomew-a0jdyzn8

Can I somehow request a new activation code, other than changing the appliance ID on appman

Cheers Simon

@simon-77 Hello again, and my apologies for the slow response on this one. We’ve had a Slowroll breakage for our pending Stable release that I’m now well no the way to sorting :crossed_fingers:

Re:

There isn’t one. The existing activation code is maintained - but pertains to the newly edited Appliance ID: with immediate effect. I’ll try to improve the explanation within Appman about this when next working in that area.

The Appliance ID comes from (needs privaledged user):

cat /sys/class/dmi/id/product_uuid

No worries, if Appman was happy with it then OK. Some motherboard manufactururs do not ensure these are unique. But if if is unique, for now, on Appman then all good. If it was previously know to Appman then it would not allow for it to be edited that way.

If you have any further issues with this best to PM me as we can then check specifics without publicly exposing your Appliance ID in full as such like.

Hope that helps.

Oh, I actually didn’t thought about entering the previous activation code … I just successfully activated my new server :sunglasses:

Thanks for clarifying this  :+1:
