Cannot access the NAS after 12 months downtime

Thought I would back up all the devices onto the NAS but couldn’t access the UI
Router has been changed but is showing the cable connected Rockstore.
Tablet updated
Version kernel 5.3.18-59.24,24(default) installed
Windows 11 claims the device (Rockstore) is not allowing connection
Using 192.168.0.22 when attempting to connect.
If a reinstall is required would it be a good idea to update to the latest version?
Any ideas
Thanks

@Mike-B dumb question first  did you use https://192.168.0.22 trying to access the WebUI or the http version.

Can you get to it using a SSH connection and log in to check the Rockstor status?

The latest stable version would be 4.1.0 at this time (the other one 4.5.7 is still considered part of the testing releases).

Thanks Dan, not so dumb, as it is something I quite easily could have done, fortunately I did use the https.
Just tried the SSH connection and tried all passwords that I think I would have used but no access.
If I reinstalled the Rockstor, would that delete the data on the HDs during a formatting process (for instance)?

Have you seen this for recovering the root password (I have not tried it, so not sure whether/how well this works:
https://rockstor.com/docs/howtos/reset-root-password.html

Since your rockstor installation is on a separate drive typically, you should be able to import the pool after a reinstallation again. There is also some info on the re-installation. You will have to set up your other settings, unless you can find a backup of the Rockstor settings file …

The above note (from me) re an SSH connection is referring to a W11 SSH connection, did you mean the connection on the Rockstore, needing the initial USB installation?
Unfortunately that USB device is no longer available.
Possibly a freshly downloaded one could work??

Thanks again Hooverdam
The installation disc is required for option 1
Shall carefully peruse option 2 and give it a go.

When I mentioned SSH connection, I was thinking about a connection (using PuTTy or something) from any other machine to the Rockstor server.
Of course, if you can/try to recover the password you will need direct access to your server.
A freshly downloaded installation will work, it’s not tied to the install media you used initially - I didn’t ask, if we’re talking about a 3.9.x version you currently have installed, you will need an installer from that major release (still on CentOS), if you’re on 4.x then you will need the installer for one of those versions …

On returning to the router admin screen I noticed the IP address was different, this gave me the log in page and browsing through my phone images I found some taken of the install screen and other initial activity which revealed my username, finally the brain engaged and up popped a password which got me into the device.
Interestingly there seems to be a lot of activity when nothing seems to be interacting with it, is this normal???
Just got to get W11 to add the shares to the network that was previously running correctly but we all know what happens with updates.
Thanks for your time on this Hooverdam

Glad you got the right gears in your brain engaged! On the activity, could it be that a scrub or balancing job is/was running?

Good luck with the shares on W11 … so far mine have survived all updates on the Windows side over the last 12 months …

Interesting thing re the W11
Previously (12 months ago) it was “\192.68.#.##” entered into file explorer
Now with the latest W11 updated os it’s “\Rockstor#####” (the device name) entered into file explorer and all the shares pop up.

I remember you had a very long thread on this topic here (well among a few other things).

so maybe you are running the wsdd Rockon which would then enable the name resolution instead of using the IP address? Or, if not, your new router has something to do with it?
