I have a rather large Rockstor system with 10+ shares and around 10Tb of content. I have a backupo solution in my home lab that supports installation on Centos, but dowsn’t support the filesystem, so… I have another Centos 7 VM that I can install the backup client onto and mount the remote SMB shares from Rockstor. eg. sudo mount -t cifs //rockstor.domain.com.au/movies_general -o username=plex_general,password=password,uid=$(id -u),gid=$(id -g),forceuid,forcegid /movies_general I’m using for…

Can anyone chip in on this one re share access from Windows 10 while OK from linux?

I think the browseable issue is down to some upstream changes and we do have work to do there. Linking to @Code_Monkey’s post re his fork of a Netgear open source project to provide this now required WS-Discovery service on Rockstor. Thanks @Code_Monkey. This fork/approach has been confirmed by @Hooverdan:

Windows network browsing without enabling SMB 1

Hello all With the past update to Windows SMBv1 was disabled, which means the old style network browser no longer works. For a system to show up in the network browser now, it must support WS-Discovery. I’ve forked a version of Netgear’s wsdd2 service, and got it working on my Rockstor box. You can find it here: https://github.com/cryolithic/wsdd2 Just clone, make, make install and start the service.

But we are still left with the basic share access so do please chip in if your see what @david_harrison’s issue is here or are experiencing the same / have a work around etc.
