Might be a amateur question. I am considering migrating from Truenas Core to Rockstor, my question is if I move drives over from Truenas that has data, will Rockstor require formatting of the drives?
IIRC TrueNAS uses ZFS. Rockstor uses BTRFS. I am sure the drives are not compatible.

That’s correct. You would need to copy the data elsewhere (preferably more than one copy if it’s important data) and then copy it back after rockstor is setup.
