I’m setting up email notifications for system alerts and monitoring in Rockstor and am evaluating different SMTP Service Provider options.
Has anyone configured IdealSMTP or a similar SMTP service with Rockstor? I’d appreciate any feedback on setup, reliability, and email delivery performance.
If you are only looking for monitoring/system alerts, then something like iDealSMTP or other commercial providers are probably overkill, unless you want to send out notifications to a huge group of users. In general, using something like yahoo or other freely available providers should be able to do the job to send notifications and alerts without a problem.
@Hooverdan Though if he’s looking to setup a single account for infrastructure notifications, especially if the deployment is in an organisation with an IT team. Especially a large one being able to send large numbers of messages, without also having to deal with mail account reputation. Thus preventing the notification mails, from bouncing or going into spam folder.
@Louis29 Are you setting up a single email account which will be used, to send all infrastructure event notification emails, to a large or fairly large to massive IT team, that will be working on and responding to those notifications? Also hello and welcome to the Rockstor community.
